Horses have been the central focus of my life since I was about 12 years old. What began as a childhood passion grew into nearly four decades of hands-on experience involving national-level competition, horse evaluation and judging, rehabilitation and recovery support, breeding, young-horse development, sales, facility development, and equine business operations.
My education in Equine Science gave me an important technical foundation, but horses themselves have always been my greatest teachers. Every horse is an individual. Understanding one requires more than observing conformation or performance it requires patience, sound judgment, attention to subtle changes, and a willingness to adjust the program to meet that horse’s particular needs.
Throughout my career, I have worked with owners, trainers, breeders, competitors, buyers, veterinarians, farriers, and other equine professionals. My experience includes national championship-level competition and horse show judging, including international assignments. These opportunities strengthened my ability to evaluate horses objectively, make responsible decisions under pressure, and communicate clearly and professionally with people throughout the industry.
Practical Experience From the Ground Up
My work has never been limited to one part of the horse business. I have been involved in selecting and developing horses, making breeding and purchasing decisions, managing young horses, preparing horses for competition or sale, studying market and sale trends, and helping buyers and owners recognize a horse’s potential.
Through my work associated with Southland Ranch and Southland Equine Rehab, I gained extensive experience with horses requiring individualized care, conditioning, rehabilitation support, and careful observation. I learned the importance of considering the whole horse—its physical condition, behavior, history, environment, workload, and response to treatment or training.
I have also participated in the planning, development, and operation of equine properties. That experience gave me a practical understanding of barns, stalls, fencing, turnout areas, rehabilitation spaces, horse-handling systems, equipment needs, and the daily operational decisions required to maintain a safe and effective facility.
My Approach
I believe good horsemanship begins with observation and respect.
A horse cannot explain what is wrong, what it fears, or why it is not performing as expected. It is our responsibility to pay attention, ask the right questions, and avoid forcing every horse into the same program.
My approach is thoughtful, practical, and centered on the long-term well-being of the horse. I value honest communication and realistic assessments. Whether evaluating a horse, assisting with a rehabilitation program, considering a breeding or purchasing decision, or helping improve an equine operation, I strive to provide guidance that is responsible, useful, and based on experience rather than assumptions.
Looking Ahead
Today, I am interested in opportunities where a lifetime of equine knowledge can provide meaningful value. This may include consulting, horse evaluation, rehabilitation and conditioning support, breeding or sales guidance, facility planning, operational management, or a leadership role with an established equine organization.
